She had come out to California to be with her son Harding Elwood Thiele, who was sick. She died in Feb. 1945 shortly after coming back from California to Illinois, so perhaps this photo was taken about 6 months before she died? Mom (Patricia Ann James) would have been about 10 and Jackie would have been about 5 or 6. very sad.
